Warwick Hall CCI1*

– Warwick Hall International Horse Trials 2023

Robyn Gray lead from start to finish to land a well-deserved win riding Margaret Francis’s 15.2h 12 year old mare Jazz Time IV in the A. W. Jenkinson Forest Products inaugural CCI1* Intro class at Warwick Hall International last weekend, 16-18 June.

Robyn from Penrith in Cumbria was clearly thrilled with her polished performance, picking up the substantial first prize pot of £500 for her owner. It was a fairy tale win for a local rider and especially for owner Margaret who is regular volunteer for the Cumbria Horse Trials series of events.

Robyn has only recently started a partnership with Jazz Time IV and yet has already clocked up a win at BE105 and will now move into Novice classes. From a field of thirty-six starters there were twenty-two completions and there were many compliments about the quality of the ground preparation despite four weeks of drought prior to the event and where the BE owned agrivator was put to good use to lighten even the sandy going at Nick and Val Marriner’s Eden Valley estate.

Ground Jury Members Les Smith and Anne Marie Taylor were impressed with the first running of an FEI competition at the venue and competitors remarked on the special attention given to them as 1 Star entrants. It was of course a team effort and organisers Lucinda and Douglas Weymouth wish to express thanks to the many stewards, volunteers, contractors and family members delivering such an enjoyable event.
