Thoresby final day: Ingham dominates CCI3* podium

The Eventing Spring Carnival has seen a fabulous weekend of equestrian sport for some of the country’s biggest stars, with GB’s championship team members dominating the podium placings.

Sunday’s final day of competition saw World Champion, Yasmin Ingham, ride to a 1-2 finish in the Rathbones CCI3*-S.

Leading from start to finish the Isle of Man Sports Woman of the Year produced a commanding win with Janette Chin and the Sue Davies Fund’s Gypsie Du Loir, finishing on their 22.6 dressage, some 5-penalties clear of her second placed ride.

Climbing to second place, with a newly acquired ride for the 2025 season, Kinda Corvette, produced a strong performance to complete on 27.7.

Of the rides Yasmin commented: “I was delighted with her [Gypsie Du Loir]; she’s a really exciting young horse and I really believe she’s going to be such an exciting horse for the future. She did a stunning dressage for 22.7 and she’s got so much room to excel in this area and followed on jumping two flawless rounds.

“It’s been such a pleasure to be here at Thoresby with perfect ground and great courses, with so much effort going into the event behind the scenes. We’re so grateful as riders to have that support from the team here at Thoresby.

“Kinda Corvette is a very exciting new ride for me. It’s my third ride on him so we’re still building a partnership but we’re gelling really quickly. He really excels in the jumping phases, they’re his favourite phases and I really felt that we were developing even more of a relationship out there on the cross-country today, so I’m really excited for the future with him.”

Great Britain’s Izzy Taylor completed the podium line up riding Retouchable for long time owner Alex Phillips.  Another combination to finish on the dressage score, they completed on 28.4.

Ponies Take Centre Stage at Thoresby
The Project Pony Combined Training offers young riders the opportunity to gain experience of riding in the international arenas without the pressure of key competition. Following in the hoof prints of the Grantham Cup competitors, the pony riders delivered their dressage tests in the walled gardens before showjumping in the main international arena, in front of a packed Saturday crowd.

Fending off strong competition from a leaderboard dominating Annabel Ridgway, it was Maisie Greening who took the win with Kilnaspic Lily. Maisie, who’s represented Great Britain at the Pony European Championships, produced the only sub-thirty dressage score of the competition to sit clear of the field on 27.7. The 12-year-old mare rolled a pole in the showjumping to finish on a score of 31.7.

Maisie commented: “I came here last year as well, and I’ve loved it both times. It’s really nice to do dressage in the walled gardens, and it’s such a lovely environment. The reverse order in everything makes it a really competitive competition and the atmosphere is amazing.”

Speaking of her partnership, Maisie added, I’ve had Lily for just over a year and I went to a few events with her last year. She loves cross-country and her little thing that she loves to do is that she always rolls after cross-country, she has a celebration roll!”

BEDE Events looks forward to welcoming the pony riders back to Aspen Cooling Osberton International for the CCIP2*-S.
