The elegance of dressage, the accuracy of showjumping and the thrill of jumping cross country fences at speed look set to enthral the crowds at Nunney International Horse Trials which takes place on June 16, 17 and 18.
The event is staged in the spectacular grounds of the grade II listed Southfield House near Frome in South Somerset and visitors are welcome to come along and watch top riders in action in beautiful unspoilt farmland.
It’s organised by local volunteers who are passionate about equestrian sports and it’s known for its friendly atmosphere in a beautiful setting, with the cross-country course winding through the picturesque countryside. International classes attract top names from the world of eventing making it a highly competitive event.
As well as sporting action there’s the chance to browse an eclectic range of trade stands and food outlets, all positioned around the main arena where showjumping takes place throughout the three days of the competition.
The main sponsor this year are Hopkins Estates and Kingsland Property and Land Agents, with Bellevue Veterinary Clinic the sponsor for all Saturday classes.
Organiser Bridget Parker said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s event. We first ran at Southfield House in 2012, and the event has been growing in popularity. It’s great that it attracts so many of the top names from the sport and it provides a wonderful opportunity for people to come along and enjoy a day out in the beautiful countryside while watching the exciting sport of horse trials.”
Friday’s action includes all the intermediate classes, on Saturday watch BE100 and Novice classes and on Sunday it’s the turn of the two star and three star international classes.
Entry is £10 on Friday, and £15 per car on Saturday and Sunday, with tickets available on the day. Visit www.nunneyhorsetrials.co.uk for more details.
