The Sovereign Auctions support BE’s Youth Ambitions

The Sovereign Auctions, who last year sold an implanted embryo full sibling to the outstanding Team GBR Eventer Lordships Graffalo who was 4th at the World Games and second at Badminton to a buyer in the USA has partnered with British Eventing.

Their passion for identifying the very best bred International Eventing and International Show jumping embryos and youngstock that have the potential to go on and be medal winners of the future made their choice to support the medal winning ambitions of British Eventing’s younger riders an obvious choice. For every sold lot, at the four auctions planned this year, Sovereign Auctions will donate 5% of their net profit to assist towards the cost of sending British Eventing’s youth teams to their respective European Championships.

The Sovereign Auctions offer some of the world’s best bloodlines and some of the strongest dam lines including embryos from mares whom have competed themselves at CCI5* and have competed at or been selected for various Olympic Games. In selling the full sibling embryo to Lordships Graffalo last year they made auction history by being the first auction house in the UK or Ireland ever to sell an eventing embryo to the USA. The embryo was part of an exclusive collection of 10 lots and concluded in a fierce bidding war to where the embryo was eventually sold at a hammer price of over £21,000. Pennie Wallace, the embryo’s breeder who also bred the CCI5* mare Pencos Crown Jewel, said of her engagement with the team at The Sovereign Auctions, “You have provided a new and very much needed fresh approach for breeders in the UK to market the top quality foals and embryos that we produce. A huge step forwards for British Breeders.”

Steve Revell, Director of The Sovereign Auctions said about the Youth Performance fundraising scheme with British Eventing, “We are delighted to be assisting support BE’s most talented youth riders at this pivotal point in their careers and believe that in investing in them at this stage it is also an investment in Great Britain’s CCI5* and Championship riders of the future’.

Maria Haig, Head of Commercial & Marketing at British Eventing said, “When we met with Steve and his team to discuss how they could support British Eventing, it became immediately apparent that their passion lay with the supporting of younger riders in their sporting ambitions. Talking through the concept of potentially supporting the sending of youth teams to their European Championships it was immediately felt as ideal for them and they very quickly came back with the proposal of supporting the teams via their auctions. Their solution couldn’t have been better positioned and we look forward to working alongside them in promoting their selection of top quality British-bred embryos and youngstock; many of which we hope to see competing successfully on home soil in the future.”

The Sovereign Auctions are keen to speak to owners of any top level eventing mares as to how they can assist them in their own breeding programmes. Information on their planned online auctions for 2023 will be available shortly at http://www.sovereignauctions.com  with their first sale The Supreme Sale planned taking place online on the 28th of May.
