Launched at the end of last year, British Eventing’s new The Howden Way Regional Academies provide members with the opportunity to access top class training and education within the heart of their local eventing community. They provide a comprehensive holistic educational syllabus that has been designed to support all riders of all levels in achieving their goals, whether it be to complete a BE80 or to represent their country at the highest level.
Riders have been able to start booking onto training with The Howden Way Regional Academies in their local area, including the very first one held in the Wales and West Midlands region. The day was led by The Howden Way Coach Katie Williams, who feels that the day was a great success.
“We had 20 riders aged from 10 to 60s attend on the day, who are competing between 80cm and Novice levels,” said Katie. “The riders enjoyed two mounted sessions and an unmounted talk at which we explained the programme and gave them their packs [Howden Way Academy syllabus and information packs are given to riders at their first Academy]. For those who wanted, we also offered a 10-minute 1-2-1 session to discuss future training plans.”
“I just wanted to say how much we both enjoyed today,” said the parent of one of the riders who attended. “It was just the right amount of riding and a mix of really nice people. We look forward to the next one.”
“My daughter had a great time,” added another parent. “It was the perfect group for her. It was lovely to see them enjoying their horses, learning and they are all looking forward to training again together!”
