Only eight events stand in the way of the first Equilume PBA League winner being announced. It’s still all to play for in the league powered by EquiRatings and supported by Equilume, which takes a combination’s three best finishing scores from all British Eventing events in the 2023 season and creates a Power Based Average (PBA).
The leader of the league at the end of the season will receive an extremely generous prize – £1,000 in prize money, plus £500 worth of Equilume products!
From someone new to British Eventing doing their first grassroots competitions, through to those at advanced level who have been a member for years, the idea of the league is that all BE members are on a level playing field, meaning the league can be headed by members competing at any level.
Currently leading the league is Laura Schroter and Katie Witherspoon’s eight-year-old gelding Kabriano who sit on a power based average of 21, just 0.2 of a point in front of Olympic event rider Gemma Stevens and Cooley Park Muze (21.2). Laura’s top three scores came from a second place with 15.5 at Horseheath, a second at Farley Hall with 25 and another second at Wellington International with 22.5.
Gemma Stevens and The Rex Syndicate’s seven-year-old gelding Cooley Park Muze have been knocked into runner-up spot after weeks at the top of the league. They sit on a power average of 21.2, their top three scores coming from a fifth-place at Burnham Market international in the BE100 with 24.2, a BE100 win at Horseheath with a score of 9.8, and a 29.5 score in the novice at Aston-Le-Walls (2) for fourth.
Lucy Robinson and Sonia Winter’s six-year-old gelding Ecclesbourne Shark Bay are in third on 22.1. The pair landed the BE90 open regional championship at Frickley Park with a score of 23.9. They also enjoyed two early season BE90 open wins, one at Stafford on a score of 23.5 and another at Calmsden on 18.8. Lucy also topped the league in May with Georgie Rockingham’s 12-year-old mare Olaris Beech.
It’s still all to play for!
