The British Eventing Support Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of a new general manager, Jane Hunter Walsh, at a time of rapid growth for the charity. The news comes exactly one month after The Princess Royal was announced as the charity’s president and just two years after it was created and launched.
The BE Support Trust aims to provide support to British Eventing members who are injured and need physical rehabilitation or financial assistance or are suffering from mental ill health and require professional help. The charity also works to maintain and improve safety standards in the sport to ensure horses and riders can take part in the sport they love without excessive risk to their wellbeing.
Jane Hunter Walsh joins the BE Support Trust as general manager with immediate effect, and with an impressive CV of work experience and equestrian sporting and charity connections. Her career highlights include developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns across Europe, the US and Asia and fundraising work for organisations including Cancer Research UK.
Jane hails from an equestrian family, was raised on a horse farm in the United States of America and competed in hunter jumper classes as a junior rider. She moved to the United Kingdom 25 years ago while working for Guinness and has since married and had two children. Much of her spare time is now spent supporting her daughter Annabel’s burgeoning passion for eventing.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help grow the British Eventing Support Trust”, Jane commented, “and I look forward to working with the board of trustees and Jane Rudd, the charity’s administrator, to widen the impact that it has in the British eventing community.”
Ian Stark, chair of the board of trustees at the BE Support Trust, added: “We are delighted to welcome Jane Hunter Walsh to the British Eventing Support Trust as general manager. Jane brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience that will benefit the BE Support Trust as the charity continues to grow and help more riders.”
The appointment comes as BE Support Trust reflects on its recent successes in raising its profile among British Eventing members and the wider equestrian community. As the 2023 eventing season nears its close in late October, the charity’s focus will turn to its Winter Ball, a black-tie fundraising event being held at the Savoy on Saturday the 18th of November.
