The Archie (Lowe) Foundation trophy and prizes

West Wilts Equestrian Centre is delighted to announce that they have joined with The Archie Lowe Foundation in offering a fabulous new award to the best rider and horse partnership competing at West Wilts each year in BE events

The Archie Foundation has been set up following the tragic loss of Archie Lowe in an inexplicable riding accident in September 2020. The objective of the foundation is to enable young horse riders to improve and develop their riding skills through the provision of bursaries and to assist in the welfare of horses in need as well as supporting the air ambulance, who desperately tried to save Archie.

The contest is only open to owner/riders. They must compete in all three BE events at West Wilts throughout the year and the winner will be the rider who accumulates the most points. Points being awarded 10 for 1st reducing with the places to 1 for 10th.Points can be earned at any level or a combination of either Novice, BE100, or BE 90.

First prize is the ‘Archie and Manni Partnership’   Perpetual trophy + £1000, plus an Archie Foundation rug and numnah. Second will receive a free entry to each of 3 BE events at West Wilts the following year and the third will receive 1 free entry to either of the 3 events the following year..

Archie was an exceptional young rider, known to and loved by many at West Wilts which was his favourite venue. He was only 21 and had just graduated from Bristol University with a top class degree in mathematics and economics. The Archie Foundation is raising funds through a variety of events and the sale of ‘A Dorset Kitchen’ cookbook which includes many photographs taken by Archie of the recipes and dishes in the book. The cookbook is available to order online at adorsetkitchen.com

Archie was a remarkable young man and it is hoped that this will go some way to remembering him over the years.

The awards will be made at a drinks party  around the end of September, the actual dates will be clarified each year.

Full details will be on a separate information sheet on the West Wilts website & event schedule.
