A fantastic start to the British Eventing season!

What an amazing start we had to the BE 2025 season with wall-to-wall sunshine and foot-perfect going! With horses and riders chomping at the bit to get back out eventing after a long winter, both Poplar Park and Epworth delivered in bucket-loads, putting on two fabulous events to kick-start a jam-packed season which runs from now until October. With classes on offer from BE80 to 5*, the British Eventing family has something for everyone. Check out the calendar of events here.

Epworth

“Well, that’s the 2025 season well and truly started,” said organiser, Cheryl Gibbons of Epworth on social media after the event. “Hard work really does pay off. We were fortunate with the weather and the best bunch of volunteers who made the event so friendly and welcoming. We hope all those that competed had a great day and thank you for your support. Wishing you all an amazing season!”

The event ran two full days of BE90, BE100 and BE100plus classes, with many riders from across the country choosing to get their 2025 campaigns underway at the North Lincolnshire venue.

Poplar Park

The team at Poplar Park enjoyed their biggest and best event yet, with record numbers in their intermediate classes and two full days of eventing action.

Organiser at Poplar Park, Bo Taylor said: “We’ve had a fab weekend with two days of glorious sunshine that saw everyone smiling and happy. Our courses rode brilliantly and we had some great feedback from riders about the ground. Our courses were carefully designed to be meaty enough to be challenging but not too daunting for the first event of the season.

“Both days of competing were jam-full – we had to start the dressage at 7.45am to get everyone through, and had 15minutes for the course changes which is the swiftest we’ve ever been. Everyone worked their socks off and we’re hugely grateful for everyone involved.”

Looking ahead

The action continues this Thursday (6 March) with two days of action taking place at Oasby in Lincolnshire followed by Tweseldown (1) this weekend (8-9 March). Enjoy!
