Successful international trip for pony riders in Ballindenisk

British Eventing pony riders enjoyed a fun weekend at Ballindenisk International Horse Trials (20-24 September) as part of an International Development Trip supported by The Howden Way. The aim of the trip was to give younger riders the experience of an international team competition as part of their competition development.

The riders were supported by coaches Camilla Kruger and Tim Rogers, and vet Debbie Jackson.

The two Pony Teams were made up of :-

Team Red
Florence Drewitt – Crossgales into the Blu
Niamh Read – Uptons Deli Carousel
Phoebe Woods – Noble Superman
Maisie Greening – Cullintra Sunlight

Team Blue
Harriet Hanger – Derrygimbla Boy
Florence Baron – Muckrim Evan
Arabella Henderson – Our Billy Eile
Clara Wilson – Atlantic Dreamer

Congratulations to Great Britain who came 2nd (Team Blue, total score 139.5) and 4th (Team Red, total score 190.8) in the team competition.

In the individual results, we had three riders in the top 10, including a win for Florence Drewitt (pictured above) who added just 4 time penalties cross country to her 27.4 dressage score for a winning total of 31.4.

1st Florence Drewitt and Crossgales into the Blu (31.4)

3rd Arabella Henderson and Our Billy Eile (40.4)

5th Clara Wilson and Atlantic Dreamer (43.8)

Coach Camilla Kruger added: “The Brits were all class round very testing weather conditions in the cross country and show jumping phases. The ground jury commented on how they were a class above themselves. They all show jumped clear around a technical and up-to-height track.

“The trip wasn’t just successful with results, but new friendships were forged, and there was lots of positive team-building and support observed from all the riders. It was a fantastic experience to compete overseas. The atmosphere was positive and friendly, with a great team spirit, professional riding, and lots of rain!”
