It was a productive trip over the Irish Sea for Laura Collett and Kirsty Chabert, who both secured International titles over at the Milstreet International Horse Trials in County Cork this weekend (1-5 June). Laura added not one but two more International wins to her record, taking the top honours in both the CCI4*-L and CCI3*-L.
In the CCI4*-L, Laura led from start to finish with Dacapo owned by Gillian Morris Adams, Diana Chappell, Carolyn Taylor and Mrs and Mrs Smedley. They posted a dressage score of 24.3 and only added 2.4 time penalties on the cross country to finish on a score of 26.1 and take the title. Tim Price took second for New Zealand on a score of 31.7 and Elizabeth Power finished third for the home nation with a three-day score of 32.2.

The scores in the CCI3*-L were a fair bit closer, with the top five all within one penalty of each other after dressage. Laura held the advantage, albeit just 0.2 penalties, over the rest of the field with Outback II, owned by Christopher Clementi, Diana Chappell and Yogi Breisner. The pair kept a clean sheet throughout the jumping phases to finish on their dressage score of 28.2 and secure the win. New Zealand’s Samantha Lissington and Bing Bong finished just behind Laura in second on a score of 28.9 and Ireland’s Aoife Clark and Sportsfield Freelance took third with a score of 30.1.

It was also a rewarding trip for Kirsty Chabert and the mare, Classic VI owned by John Johnston and Carole Somers. They completed on a three day score of 40.8 to take the CCI-S 4* title, ahead of Ireland’s Cathal Daniels who finished second and third with LEB Lias Jewel and Rioghan Run respectively.
