Rule updates – 2025

Based on significant member feedback, we will be doing the following this year:

Show Jumping Collecting Rings: We will be enforcing the existing rule that participants enter in order and adhere to their allocated times – of course there will be exceptional circumstances which the steward will manage on the ground if need be. Updated guidance has been drafted for Organisers to pass on to their Ring Stewards.

Competitors Going Before the Bell in Show Jumping: In BE, going before the bell in the show jumping phase typically results in elimination, preventing the competitor from completing the event. For grassroots competitions, we have advised Show Jumping Judges not to eliminate a competitor until after they have completed their round. This means if the BE Steward allows, the combination may go to the Cross-Country phase but they will not register a result, even if they’ve received a technical elimination from Show Jumping (as long as they have not accumulated excessive faults). This change is aimed at providing a better experience, especially for newcomers to the sport. This will be a trial for 2025 Season

Bikes: Organisers have the discretion to exclude bikes from the event site. No bikes are to be ridden inside the stringed areas of the Cross-Country course. If anyone is seen riding or parking a bike in a manner that could potentially cause harm to others, appropriate action will be taken. This will make the site safer for everyone.
