British Eventing are pleased to confirm that Bicton Arena will now host the South West Regional Grassroots Championship on 3 – 4 August 2024 and in 2025. This follows an expression of interest for a replacement of Port Eliot which British Eventing put out last month, and a final decision that was made by the BE Fixtures Committee.
British Eventing’s CEO, Rosie Williams, said, “We had five quality applications to replace the event, and it was very difficult to choose between them. Eventing is lucky to have such great venues who are so keen to hold events and step up for our members. Bicton is a very popular venue with our members, and we’re grateful that they are able to replace the Regional Championships. We look forward to a great event for our members next month.”
Helen West, Bicton Arena’s Co-Director commented, “We really feel for our friends at Port Eliot but will do our absolute best to put on a much-needed grassroots fixture in the South West for BE members. We are excited to host the Regional Championship competition and give as many competitors the opportunity to ride around the stunning parkland here at Bicton.”
Event Organiser at Port Eliot, Tamsyn Hutchins added, “Thank you to all the members, Port Eliot Estate and Lady Bianca who have supported us for the last decade. I am thrilled that Bicton is stepping in to provide an alternative option for members in our region.”
Entries will open shortly on the British Eventing website.
