Hector Payne and Dynasty finished on a score of 32.5 to take third place in the CCI5* at Pau Horse Trials over the weekend.
The gelding owned by Judith Skinner, Jeremy Skinner, David Hall and Margie Hall barely put a foot wrong for Hector, adding just 1.2-time penalties on the cross country and 0.4 time penalties in the show jumping to their dressage score of 30.9. They were rewarded with a top three finish, joining the 2022 Champions, Jonelle Price and Grappa Nera for New Zealand, and France’s Karim Florent Laghoua and Triton Fontaine (second place) on the podium.
“He was on fire today jumping the most incredible clear round a serious track,” said Hector on his Facebook Page after the show jumping. “I cannot fault him this week – a PB in the dressage, the best round he’s ever given me XC yesterday and to pull off a clear round in the show jumping today – an absolute dream week and so deserved for him and my incredible owners!”

Four British combinations finished in the Top 10, with overnight leaders David Doel and Galileo Nieuwmoed dropping to fourth after an unlucky pole in the show jumping; Bubby Upton and Cannavaro taking sixth; and Emily King and Valmy Biats completing the competition in eighth.
