THE new British Eventing 4YO Showcase at this year’s Osberton International Horse Trials proved a resounding success with 41 entered in this innovative addition to the schedule.
After a fantastic afternoon, the class went to Flora Harris with MGH Hildare Harlequin owned by Anna Sims Hilditch.
Said Flora: “Anna bought him as a three-year-old from Padraig McCarthy and I really feel he is going to be a superstar.
“He made everything feel easy and we couldn’t be more delighted. He will now have a good rest before next season, but there is no rush with him and we will just take our time.”
Taking second place was a delighted Ginnie Turnbull with the attractive coloured, Saint Sir Dapper, owned and bred by Jonathan Canty.
Simon Grieve and Haselmere Rockey rounded off the top three, the grey gelding delighting the Leicestershire-based rider.
The feature section of the day, the class included a dressage test, showjumping and cross-country section incorporating a water jump, bank and ditch.
With a busy dressage schedule throughout the day, leading the way in the British Eventing 5YO 1*S is Ros Canter with DHI Rock Dancer.
Heading the British Eventing 6YO 2*S is the inform Piggy French with Brookfield Future News and at the top of the leader board in the 7YO 3*S is Stephen Heal with the chestnut, Quidam De Lux.
Said organiser Stuart Buntine: “It has been a great day at Osberton International, blustery at times but it was great to see so many riders out competing and with a smile on their faces.
“Everyone is in great form and we are looking forward to more dressage in the Investec CCI2*-L and CCI3*-Land cross-country for the British Eventing Young Horse classes tomorrow as well as dressage in the Bennington Carriages Driving Trials.”
