We understand that some of our members may have encountered difficulties whilst trying to enter Thoresby this afternoon when entries opened.
As our members will know, the BE system is designed for a balloting entry process and not a first-come-first-served (FCFS) which we know many of our members and organisers would like us to work towards. With this in mind, we have been piloting a FCFS entry system with BEDE this year, the first being Oasby which saw a record number of entries hit the system. We had a wash-up meeting immediately following Oasby to identify the issues experienced and put a solution in place for them as soon as possible.
We worked hard with the BE IT Team, and external support alongside the BEDE Team to risk assess whether we could repeat the trial for Thoresby; it was agreed by all that was feasible to pilot it again.
Anticipating the same level of activity, we were prepared ahead of the entries opening this afternoon. However, an even greater level of members hitting the website today than previously encountered saw the internal entries framework temporarily come to a standstill.
We are working to alleviate the issue however we are unable to ignore that the system was not designed for a FCFS entry system. With this in mind, we are hoping to accredit a third-party entry system in the near future which will be able to facilitate a FCFS entry process.
In the meantime, BE continues to operate it’s normal entry system. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our members for their patience and understanding.
