New Incentives for Competitors in 2023 in New Agria Lifetime Equine BE100 League

BE100 competitors will reap the rewards of a brand-new competitive league across the 2023 season, with points earned towards major prizes at the end of the year. Sponsored by the world’s oldest pet insurer, who last year launched the UK’s only lifetime insurance for horses, The Agria Lifetime Equine BE100 League will take place across the six BEDE Event competitions, culminating in the grand finale for those qualified: the new CCI1* class at September’s prestigious Osberton International Horse Trials.

The Agria Lifetime Equine BE100 League is open to registered members of British Eventing who haven’t competed at Intermediate or above in the previous five years. Points can be collected by a horse and rider combination in any BE100 division across the six qualification events and the finale, though GO BE classes will not count towards point allocations.

Pre-registration is required to join the league, and points cannot be retroactively collected for events completed prior to registration. The participating events are as follows:

  • Oasby (1) – 9th to 12th March (entries open 3rd February)
  • Agria Shelford (1) – 28th – 30th May
  • BCA – 10th – 11th June
  • Catton Park – 17th – 19th June
  • Brightling Park – 1st – 2nd July
  • Agria Shelford (2) – 26th – 28th August
  • Osberton International – 27th Sept – 1st October – CCI1* Final

Points will be collected through the initial six events: three points will be awarded upon completion; two points for jumping clear in the showjumping phase; and two points for jumping clear (sans jumping penalties) in the cross-country phase. Those who meet the MER three times (Minimum Eligibility Requirements) may enter the CCI1* at Osberton, at which points will be awarded for placings: 15 points to the winner, 14 points to the runner up, and so on, with 15th place receiving one point, while all double clears (no jumping penalties in either jumping phase) will receive a two-point bonus. The league prize-giving will be held alongside the CCI1* prize-giving in the main arena.

Agria will be enhancing the prize pot for these events with:

  • An ‘enhanced cash prize fund for the series totalling £1500A
  • A BEDE exclusive “Agria Sponsored Rider package” for one year (to include branded kit, photoshoot etc) for the overall winner
  • An Agria-branded Bucas rug to the overall winner
  • A training session with one of Agria’s four sponsored British Team riders for overall winner

Vicki Wentworth, MD of Agria UK and herself an eventer, says: “We are thrilled to be supporting this series for talented amateur riders and to help spread word about our game-changing horse insurance. With its reassurance that vet bills can be covered year after year for recurring injuries or repetitive or chronic conditions, it is especially important for the one or two-horse rider.

I know personally the hard work involved in eventing to a good level as a hobby — and how thrilling it is when it goes well! Agria Lifetime Equine can’t wait to support and celebrate others as they do that.”

Stuart Buntine, Director of BEDE Events, says: “It’s great to see Agria Lifetime Equine expanding their support of eventing and we’re pleased to host this new league across all of the BEDE BE100 fixtures.  The new CCI1*, at Osberton, will run with showjuming as the final phase and giving the riders a great destination fixture to end the season with.”
