Following its success in 2023, the national level long format class running at Novice level will return for a second season. The class, unique to Osberton, gives competitors the opportunity to compete over a long format without the added requirements, and costs, of competing in an FEI class.
The Nottinghamshire event, that is an end of season destination event for many, this year takes place from 3rd to 6thOctober.
Scheduled as Restricted Novice, the tracks will have subtle differences from its CCI2*L counter parts. Competitors will tackle a slightly less intense track with subtle changes at some of the more challenging combinations. This reflects the lessened MER (Minimum Eligibility Requirements) to compete in the Restricted Novice as opposed to the CCI2*L.
With thoughts towards minimising the time spent away from work and home, the requirement for a first trot up has once again been removed. In the interest of horse welfare, there will be a horse inspection prior to show jumping ensuring their fitness to compete on the final day.
BEDE Events are pleased to welcome Agria UK as new title sponsors for the class, with Vicki Wentworth, Agria UK CEO, commenting: “Agria is very much about finding innovative ways to better support riders, and we certainly love eventing, so we’re delighted to be sponsoring this unique National three-day class.”
BEDE Events Director Stuart Buntine added: “The National 3-Day class is something we’re really passionate about. It gives those riders not looking to follow the FEI route, or not able to justify the additional costs associated with FEI competition, an end of season aim at a destination event. We’re grateful to Agria for their increased support of Osberton, with the National 3-Day joining with their support of the BE100 League that also culminates in the CCI1* at Osberton.”
Entry Requirement – Novice competitors are not to have started any FEI classes in the 2024 season, with MERs taken over the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
