The organisers of Defender Blair Castle International Horse Trials and the team at Atholl Estates are delighted to announce this year’s charity partner as Macmillan Cancer Support.
There will be few people unaware of the work of Macmillan Cancer Support. Pledging to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as possible, the charity provides confidential emotional, practical, physical and financial support. It also supports healthcare professionals while fundraising and campaigning at both local and national level.
Over three million people in the UK live with cancer, and that number is set to grow. Cancer diagnoses are rising and more people are surviving than ever before. As a result, the nature of cancer care needs to adapt and evolve to meet the rapidly changing requirements of people living with the disease. Macmillan Cancer Support provides a lifeline to those affected, at every stage of their experience.
Matthew Smith, Relationship Fundraising Manager for the charity’s Scotland North & East region, commented: “We are so grateful that Blair Castle International Horse Trials will be helping us raise money to extend our ability to provide ever more vital cancer services. We can’t wait to be part of this iconic Scottish event.”
Nicky Townshend, Assistant Director of Defender Blair Castle Horse Trials, said: “We are delighted to support such a worthy cause. Cancer touches so many lives, both directly and indirectly, and the work of Macmillan Cancer Support is a lifeline for countless people affected by the disease. We are looking forward to working together, raising funds and awareness for the charity.”
Running over four days (24 – 27 August), Defender Blair Castle International Horse Trials is Scotland’s premier equestrian event attracting over 45,000 visitors every year, who come to watch top class sport and take advantage of the extensive shopping opportunities.
