The Jump Training (JT) Series, sponsored by Elite Equine, has been underway since November and all eyes are now on the Championships, to be held at Solihull Riding Club on 26 February. However, there are still two opportunities to be part of this popular winter competition.
Entries are still open for the final two qualifiers…
- Berkshire College on 6 February, where the coach will be Justin Clubley
- Hartpury on 20 February, where the coach will be Sylvia Farmer
Jump Training is a great opportunity to compete and train before the season gets into full swing. The series boasts a unique training element, where a BE Accredited Coach is on hand to provide advice and feedback on your jumping in real time.
Three classes are available:
JT80 – with a maximum fence height of 85cm
JT90 – with a maximum fence height of 95cm
JT100 – with a maximum fence height of 105cm
Riders receive support from the coach throughout the three phases of the competition:
Phase 1 – Course walk
A guided video course walk (available at www.youtube.com/user/BritishEventingGB) and rider course walks throughout the competition. The coach will be on hand to answer questions and give advice.
Phase 2 – Warm up
Warm up session prior to the competition. The warm up arena is supervised with a helper on hand to assist with fences if required.
Phase 3 – Competition
A competition format which enables riders to jump one round, get feedback from the coach and then jump again.
Both rounds of show jumping are given marks for style, effectiveness of riding and the quality of the horse’s jump and paces. Any show jumping faults over the two rounds are then included to produce a final score. The coaches will provide a feedback sheet with the marks and comments for you to take away. The lowest score is best and the top 25 per cent from each class qualify for the Elite Equine Jump Training Championship.
