Job Title: British Eventing Scotland Committee Chairperson

Type: Voluntary Role

Role Summary: The chairperson has the responsibility of ensuring that the British Eventing Scotland Committee functions effectively and within the remit of its constitution and promotes a positive relationship with members and stakeholders across Eventing in Britain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chair BE Scotland committee meetings, with the assistance of the secretary, and ensure all meeting minutes and actions are communicated to the members in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the British Eventing Board receives agendas and minutes of BE Scotland Committee meetings.
  • Attend British Eventing Board meetings as required.
  • Engage with the members to ensure that they are kept informed of the work being carried out on their behalf and be the key conduit for feedback to British Eventing.
  • Maintain a dialogue with the British Eventing Board member nominated to sit on the British Eventing Scotland Committee.
  • Ensure the constitution and terms of reference of the committee are adhered to, and present any proposed changes to the British Eventing Board.
  • As a minimum, provide the British Eventing Board, via the Chief Executive Officer, a quarterly report on outcomes and challenges facing the sport.
  • Ensure, by working with British Eventing, that all finances are managed appropriately and within policy and budget.
  • Represent and promote Eventing, to devolved sporting bodies, including Horse Scotland, Sport Scotland and other regional funding bodies.
