Jennifer Morris becomes Floors Castle Novice Master

A fabulous cross country round inside the optimum time saw Jennifer Morris and JRP Kick On Casanova secure the prestigious title of the Floors Castle Novice Master for 2022 at the Floors Castle International Horse Trials, Roxburghshire.

There was much anticipation surrounding the first Novice Masters competition of the season, especially as the first Masters competition to be held on Scottish soil, and it didn’t disappoint.

Francesca Richardson and CSF Rocky took an early lead after dressage, setting a score of 28.5. They were followed by Finlay Marsden and Ardagh Epic in second and our winner, Jennifer Morris in third.

The show jumping started to jumble the order, with just five rounds without jumping penalties, but it was the cross country that ended up proving most influential. Just one combination came home with a clear round inside the time – Jennifer Morris and JRP Kick On Casanova. The performance was more than enough to propel them up the leader board and secure the first Masters title of 2022.

In addition to the honour of becoming the Floors Castle Novice Master, Jennifer also received a whole array of fabulous prizes, including a HorseQuest winner’s rug, EHOA sponsored crystal decanter and championship rosette, British Eventing winner’s sash and rosette and prize bundles from both Bates Saddles and HorseQuest.

Everyone had plenty to take home, with the top placed riders receiving further rosettes and prizes and each competitor that took part being given a stable plaque bearing all sponsors names and a passport cover from HorseQuest.

The top six riders also earned themselves a ticket for the ‘Masters’ Big Prize Draw! The draw will take place at the end of all Novice and Intermediate Masters legs, with the overall winner receiving a year’s British Eventing membership for horse and rider, a year’s feed for one horse from Baileys and a £500 voucher from Jump for Joy. A runner up will also receive a £500 Jump for Joy voucher.
