GRASSROOTS LEAGUE WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The latest winners of the performance prize money paid out to the riders leading British Eventing’s new Grassroots Opposition Beaten Percentage (OBP) Leagues have been announced. They will each receive a pay-out of up to £300 after topping the leagues at the end of the two-month period for March and April.

Prize money is paid out every other month to the person at the top of each of the leagues, as well as the overall winners at the end of the season. The bi-monthly ‘Performance Bonus’ can only be won once within each league, and it will go down the line if the current leader has already won it in the season.

Congratulations to our March/April winners:

Newcomer OBP League  – Jenny Calver and Shanna Dun An Oir Star Lite with a current OBP of 88.9%
Jenny and Shanna Dun An Oir Star Lite were fourth at Horseheath, fourth at the Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International (1) and seventh at Poplar Park. They win £200.

BE80 OBP League – Serena Allery and Cassiopeia with a current OBP of 88%
Serena and Cassiopeia have finished in the top five of their last three runs including Poplar Park, Norton Disney (1) and Horseheath, all with sub-30 scores. They win £200.

BE90 OBP League – Meg Adams and Forth Mountain with a current OBP 95.6%
Meg and Forth Mountain won Munstead (1), were second at Poplar Park and finished fourth at Horseheath, also with sub-30 scores. They win £250

BE100 OBP League – Penny Hancox and Circus Standing Ovation with a current OBP of 94.6%
Penny and Circus Standing Ovation headed Norton Disney (1), were second at Lincolnshire and finished sixth at the Voltaire Design Grassroots Championships. They win £300.

The Leagues have been designed around the concept of the Opposition Beaten Percentage (OBP), the brainchild of Equiratings, and acknowledge how competitive a combination was in a particular class – the greater the number of fellow competitors that they finished ahead of, the better the score.
