We have some exciting news to share… Having listened to our members and also taking into account the forced abandonments early on in the season due to the wettest spring on record, we are delighted to announce that we have opened up the qualification for the regional championships. This will give a wider pathway to both the regional championships and subsequently the opportunity to qualify and compete at both Bramham and Badminton.
The new qualification criteria will now allow for the top 20% from the respective qualifying classes to be eligible to compete at the regional championships. This will see additional members joining those who have qualified with the original two double clear requirement. We trust that this new pathway will be warmly welcomed by the membership focussing on the grassroots championships pathway.
Our national championships offer grassroots riders the opportunity to compete at some of Britain’s most iconic eventing venues – Bramham Park for The NAF Five Star BE80 Championship and Badminton for The Voltaire Designs Grassroots Championships for riders competing at BE90 and BE100.
The top 10% of finishers from the Regional Championship sections will all receive a qualification for Bramham (BE80) or Badminton (BE90 and BE100). In addition to this the regional championships give members the opportunity to be crowned ‘Regional Champion’ within their height category.
The 2023 Regional Championships dates will be as follows:
- Port Eliot, Cornwall – 5-6 August
- Blindley Heath, Lingfield, Surrey – 12-13 August
- Hopetoun, West Lothian – 12-13 August
