British Eventing is delighted to announce Bates Saddles as the title sponsor of its Arena Eventing Championships – which will take on a new format for this winter season.
Riders will now be able to qualify for the Championships at 16 fantastic venues, spread throughout the UK. Increasing the number and geographical spread of the venues will give more combinations to the opportunity to participate in the unique competition format.
Arena Eventing is the perfect pre-season competition. It provides both show jumping practice and training over some of the technical elements of cross country, all on an arena surface during the winter months. Competitors first complete a round of show jumps immediately followed by a cross country course, finishing over a show jump ‘joker fence’ set at 10cm higher than the rest of the course.
Open to both BE Members and non-members, the classes will take place between November and mid-February and will be available at 80cm, 90cm and 100cms level. The top placed combinations for each class will be provided with a Qualification card, which will qualify for them for Bates Saddles Arena Eventing Championships – set to take place on 19 February 2022 at Aston le Walls Eventing Centre in Northamptonshire.
“It is a great honour for Bates Saddles to support the development of emerging eventing combinations, through the Bates Saddles Arena Eventing Championships. Encouraging every horse and rider to reach their potential lies at the heart of our saddle innovations. Prioritising comfort is the key to unlocking performance and our official partnership with British Eventing ensures this message is reaching riders of all levels on their way to eventing success,” said Bates Saddles Managing Director, Ron Bates.
“The Arena Eventing Championships are a popular part of our Winter Series and a valuable addition to many people’s off-season training,” added Beccy Barrett, Head of Stakeholder Management and Communications for British Eventing. “It is great to have the support of Bates Saddles for The British Eventing Arena Championship Championships & we look forward to working with them.”
