Family fun and first-class sport at Floors Castle Horse Trials

Visitors to Floors Castle Horse Trials can expect a weekend of fun, family attractions and first-class sport with Olympic gold medallist Oliver Townend entered with a lorry load of horses, and young talent Emily King, who has just been selected for British Equestrian’s World Class Programme, bringing stars from her and boyfriend Sam Ecroyd’s yard.

The event runs from 11-14 May. Saturday and Sunday are host to the best of the North’s grassroots riders, whilst Thursday and Friday see the international 2* and 3* classes, the intermediates and the seven-year-old young horse class. Whilst most classes are full, the senior classes are still open.

Sponsored by the Malcom Group again, the eventing classes are run on old pastureland in front the of historic castle, and are an ideal introduction to the international sport for young horses according to course designer Helen West.

Additional attractions at Floors include:

  • Gundog demonstration on at midday on Saturday & Sunday
  • Dog show with a variety of classes for each breed and novelty family classes throughout the weekend
  • Shopping Village with a large selection of products from homeware, gifts, outdoor garden items and an array of equestrian brands
  • Locally sourced food and drink stalls offering all food options to suit all dietary requirements
  • Become a Floors Castle member and join for lunch on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Ticket includes: event entry, forward parking, programme, two course buffet lunch & welcome drink
  • Burghley Young Event Horse qualifier on Thursday
  • Arena Eventing on Saturday
