Following member feedback received regarding the NAF Five Star BE80 Championships at Bramham, British Eventing would like to open up the opportunity for more riders to qualify for the championships and enjoy everything Bramham has to offer.
British Eventing CEO Rosie Williams said: “The BE80 championships is such a wonderful event and I want to make sure there are as many opportunities to compete at prestigious championships for our grassroots members as possible. This event, for some of our members, is their Olympics and we need them to be encouraged to reach their goals!”
British Eventing have therefore made the following changes to the qualifying criteria that will take immediate effect:
National Championship Level – Direct Qualification Opportunity
The following change allows for a direct qualification opportunity to the 2025 BE80 Championships at Bramham. This route will also enable combinations to potentially achieve some of the qualifications at the start of the 2025 season: –
- From 1st June 2024 to the close of entries for the 2025 Championships – any combination with three (3) BE80 MERs (Minimum Eligibility Requirements) achieved at any relevant qualifying BE80 class., one of which must be achieved at a 2024 BE80 RCNQ class may enter the 2025 National Championship.
Or
- From 1st June 2024 to the close of entries for the 2025 Championships – any combination with five (5) BE80 MERs (Minimum Eligibility Requirements) achieved at any relevant qualifying BE80 class.
The MER is achieved by completing a competition with: –
- no more than 45 dressage penalties,
- no more than 16 show jumping obstacle penalties,
- 0 cross country jumping penalties and no more than 30 cross country time penalties.
Regional Championship Level
For 2024, the top 30% of any qualifying BE80 class will now qualify to go forward to a 2024 Regional Championship, this is an increase from 20%.
Members can now also compete on a PAYG membership, and horses can now compete on a PAYG ticket at a Regional Championship.
There is also now the option for Regional Championship Organisers to use a BE90 20×40 dressage test instead of a 20×60 test.
In 2024 Regional Championship Organisers will be able to run a pilot Team competition and we will be offering coaching on a regional basis to those who qualify.
Pathways to 2024 Regional Championships
- Two double clears achieved in any eligible BE80 Section
- Any combination finishing in the Top 30% of any BE80 qualifying class
Pathways to Bramham: –
- One top 20% result in a BE80 Rregional Championship National Qualifier (RCNQ), or
- One (1) qualifying result in a BE80 RCNQ plus two (2) qualifying result in a BE80, or
