We are pleased to announce that EPWORTH HORSE TRIALS will run on 3rd & 4th September in aid of BREAST CANCER RESEARCH.
Following a successful application through the fixtures protocol a move from week 1 to week 27 has been granted by BE.
Organisers Cheryl & John Gibbons are delighted to be able to offer the very best of their facilities in the second half of the season with Epworth’s new date this will be a great asset to the Northern Region as this date will give the BE calendar the replacements for Richmond 2 & Frickley 2. Being on well drained sandy soil the XC course will be in perfect condition even if the summer turns out to be a nice one and with SJ taking place on a surface the horses welfare is paramount.
“The weekend will also be very different to what Epworth has run in the past. The decision to make the weekend a fund raiser for Breast Cancer Research is a very personal one” Cheryl Gibbons said.
“In 2021 I had a very close scare fortunately I was given the all clear however a very close member of our team unbeknown to me on the same day wasn’t so lucky & has since undergone Chemo & a Mastectomy. Not long before all this happened another friend was going through Chemo for the same thing & is still fighting this cruel disease.” Cheryl stated.
The organisers have decided for the weekend to turn Epworth Horse Trials PINK & raise money for the very worthy cause. John Gibbons stated,
“Our target is to raise £10k over the weekend by donating a large proportion of the start fees to the charity. An online auction will take place nearer the time with all proceeds going to the cause, do not miss the opportunity to have the chance to experience time with Nicola Wilson, Ros Canter…….. Other fund raising activities will be announced nearer the time with Souvenir Apparel available to order online & collect on the day”.
Cheryl & John would welcome your support over the weekend by competing with them, donating, helping & coming along to join them to smash their target & to be part of a very special weekend not to be missed.
