Entries are now open for the 2025 FEI Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials (11-13 April), a weekend of eventing that offers something for everyone.
For riders, an entry at Burnham Market is the chance to write your own chapter in the history of an event that has spanned the last three decades. Many World, European and Olympic champions have chosen to make an early season trip to north Norfolk – including Laura Collett and London 52, who won last year’s CCI4*-S title on the way to their success in Paris.
With its sandy going and challenging, Alec Lochore-designed cross-country courses, the event provides a great opportunity to prepare horses for bigger targets to come – the number of horse’s competing each year that hold entries for Badminton speaks for itself.
A good run at Burnham Market will give you a true, early season marker of your horse’s success. And, whilst you’re there, you can always sneak in a visit to the beach – the nearby Holkham estate (often voted one of Britain’s best beaches), is as welcoming to horses as it is humans.
For owners, the Horse Trials offer the perfect excuse for a getaway by the sea. Come and watch your horse compete at one of spring’s premier events while indulging in the best of north Norfolk. Whether it’s immersing yourself in culture at Houghton Hall or savouring an award-winning seafood platter by the coast, your weekend is sure to be an experience to remember.
What’s more, Sussex Farm’s landscape is ideal for getting up close to the action. From the natural amphitheatre of the show jumping arena (the perfect spot to sit with a cool drink from the Barefoot Retreats Gin bar) to breath-taking views across the cross-country course, you can easily catch all the key moments of your horse’s performance.
For supporters and spectators, there are plenty of extra treats. The tradestand village has a bit of everything, including plenty of tasty delights for people and pets. There is also a range of entertainment, including falconry, terrier racing, Grays Funfair and the Woolly Warriors, so the whole family can enjoy a day at Burnham Market.
Gates open at 8am each morning, with competition getting underway at 9am (Friday and Saturday) and 8am on Sunday. View the full timetable click here.
Tickets are available to purchase online and on the gate. An early bird discount is available throughout March when general admission tickets are purchased via the Musketeer website.
