Emily is King of Floors Castle

Eventing power couple Emily King and partner Sam Ecroyd had a stunning Floors Castle International for owners Vicki and Stewart Irlam with her winning the 3*with Jackpot, and him taking the runner up slot with Chapel House.

Emily also took second and third in the Intermediate with the Irlam’s horses, Killaloe Flash the Cash and Sunny Side Up, and Sam won the Open Intermediate on FMSH Highway for Penelope Ecroyd, Julie and Michael Hall.

Emma Carmichael continued her triumphant return from injury winning the Intermediate class with her mother’s Leo Santos.

“The Irlams have been long term owners with Sam, and the opportunity came for me to ride for them. They’re lovely people and it’s great to do well with all their horses,” Emily said. “Jackpot came to me at the end of last season, having been produced by Polly Schwerdt. He’s a very exciting horse and flew round here.”

Emily also paid tribute to the team at the Malcolm Group sponsored Floors Castle International.

“It’s a stunning event, beautifully presented and the going is fantastic. No mud! The cross country is proper and educational,” she said.

Oliver Townend dominated the 2*  with a one, two, three, leading from pillar to post to win on Sir John Peace’s Hialisca de Takam, coming second on Sir John Peace and Charlotte Cole’s Be Cooley and taking third place with Fargann Des Loges.
