The much-anticipated Cornbury House Horse Trials returns this week, promising a thrilling blend of world-class equestrian competition, family-friendly activities, and a celebration of the best in British countryside tradition. From 11th to 15th September, the historic Cornbury Park will transform into the ultimate arena for riders, horses, and spectators alike.
Known for its scenic setting in the heart of the Cotswolds, the Cornbury House Horse Trials have quickly become a highlight of the equestrian calendar. Riders from across the UK and beyond will compete across multiple levels from international CCI3*-S to the British Eventing Young Horse Championships for five-, six- and seven-year-olds, showcasing their skill, precision, and partnership with their horses in dressage, showjumping, and cross-country.
Highlights of the Event:
- Top Equestrian Talent: With entries from Olympic riders, rising stars, and seasoned professionals, the competition promises to be fierce and exciting. Notable names expected to compete this year include all three members of Britain’s gold medal-winning team from the Paris Olympics (Laura Collett, world number one Tom McEwen and recent Burghley winner Ros Canter), Zara Tindall and Oliver Townend.
- Stunning Cross-Country Course: Designed by David Evans, the cross-country course will test competitors’ agility, stamina, and technique, set against the backdrop of Cornbury Park’s historic landscapes, ancient woodlands, and rolling parklands.
- Family-Friendly Attractions: Beyond the competition, the event will offer a range of activities for all ages, including children’s entertainment, artisan food stalls and shopping from bespoke independent retail brands.
- Hospitality: The Bull in local Charlbury will be delivering the food offering in the VIP hospitality marquee across the week. Last year the team from The Bull produced pure food theatre which also featured Cornbury Longhorn Beef.
- From the Farm: Experience our newly created ‘From the Farm’ offering with a tasty selection of locally sourced and sustainable food and drink offerings such as Cornbury Farm raised Beef and home-made Honeydale Ice cream from The Dairyy. From farm-fresh produce to locally produced beverages, indulge in guilt-free dining and drinking while supporting local businesses.
David Howden, Cornbury House Horse Trials Founder and President said: “We are thrilled to welcome riders, spectators, and our local community back to Cornbury Park for what promises to be our best event yet. Our team has been working tirelessly to create a memorable experience for everyone involved, from the competitors to the families enjoying a day out in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside.”
Laura Collett, winner of the Leading Rider prize at Cornbury in 2023 and an Olympic team gold medal winner for Britain, said: “My owners and I love Cornbury – it is so special, and we feel so well looked-after and valued there. It has got better and better each year, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I will be trying very hard to win back the Leading Rider Award this time!”
Cornbury House are proud to be partnering with Pol Roger who celebrate their 175th anniversary this year along with Clarence Court, Mirabeau, Pragnell, Volare Aviation, Markel, Ineos, Hawkstone and Fortnum & Mason to help execute this wonderful event.
