Clemmie Kerridge and seven-year-old gelding Iluigi pulled off a stellar double clear to finish on their dressage score of 31.2 and be crowned HorseQuest Novice Master at Cirencester Park.
“This was my first Novice Master class with him and he jumped really well, particularly in the show jumping, despite the rain,” said Clemmie who has owned the gelding since January last year. “It was the first time he’s really had to go for the time cross-country and I was pleased with how he coped, especially with the ground being a bit more challenging due to the rain.
“The Novice Masters feels like a separate class from the others, especially being able to do our dressage in the bigger arena and winning the additional prizes – it’s a great experience.
“He’ll hopefully do an intermediate this year and keep going up the levels with him.”
Also finishing on a double clear were runners up Megan Brown and Tamara Weal’s Metropolitan Clover (32.5), while Emma Pullon and Ecklands Elsa picked up just 0.4 cross-country time penalties to finish in third on a total of 33.9.
In addition to becoming the Cirencester Park Novice Master, Clemmie also received a HorseQuest Rug, numnah, HorseQuest riding socks and a £50 HorseQuest voucher. Megan’s prizes included a HorseQuest numnah, riding socks and a £30 HorseQuest voucher, and Emma received HorseQuest fleece gilet, riding socks and a £20 HorseQuest voucher.
The next Novice Masters competition in the calendar will be at Belsay International on 31 May.
