There is an exciting new dimension to the 2023 Chatsworth International Horse Trials with the announcement that it has been chosen to host the British leg of the FEI Eventing Nations CupTM – a prestigious annual series of team competitions held across Europe.
The Nations Cup will be incorporated into Chatsworth’s showpiece 4-star class with countries vying for elusive Eventing team qualifications for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. As the second of eight legs in the 2023 league, and, with its early-season slot, it is expected to attract a high-profile international entry — six of the world’s top 10 riders are based in Britain and many more are expected to travel here to experience the atmospheric cross-country course on the Chatsworth Estate.
Great Britain, the reigning Olympic and European Eventing champions, has a strong record in the series, having topped the league three times since it began in 2012, but will face competition from New Zealand, Ireland, Japan, France and Australia among other leading nations.
“We are delighted to have been asked to host the British leg of the Nations Cup which will provide another layer of interest to what is always a great competition,’ said event director Patricia Clifton. “We look forward to welcoming an even more international entry than usual.”
The Chatsworth International Horse Trials, supported by Delarki, takes place on 12th to 14thMay. There is cross-country action on both Saturday and Sunday, plus a fun programme of arena displays, family entertainment, a great selection of gifts from local makers and retailers, and excellent food.
