Changes to Youth Leagues regarding qualification for the Regional Championships

In response to the challenging weather conditions that we have experienced so far this season, British Eventing is removing the requirement for U18s to achieve one of their qualifications for 2024 within their region.

Therefore, the Youth Regional Leagues, which are the qualification pathway to the Regional Youth Championships, and can be found here, will now reflect all results attained in the qualifying period from all relevant U18 competitions by eligible riders on the Youth Programme. The leagues will still reflect the region in which the member resides and is able to represent.

British Eventing Head of Youth, Darrell Scaife, said: “With some events having to abandon due to the wet weather we have been enduring, we felt that we should respond by removing the requirement for one of the results to come from within the rider’s region. In doing so, it will allow for our U18 riders to compete for their place at the Championships on a level playing field.”

The Regional Youth Championships are open to members who are on the British Eventing Youth Programme. Giving younger riders the opportunity to gain experience of competing at a championship with the honour of representing their region, the Championships are extremely popular with classes starting from BE80 and BE90, and take place in September at Chillington Hall. The BE100 and 2* Regional Youth Championships take place prior to this in July at Bishop Burton.
