The FEI Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International Horse Trials has produced some epic moments of sport over the years and, with just a week to go, the 2025 competition (11-13 April) looks set to be another thriller.
The highlight of this action-packed weekend will be the CCI4*-S competition, culminating in an electrifying cross-country phase on Sunday afternoon. This thrilling finale is sure to keep spectators captivated until the very last moment! Could it be back-to-back wins for Laura Collett and London 52? The pair have added another Olympic Team Gold and an individual Bronze medal to their incredible resume since we saw them winning here last spring, and they now return to Norfolk ready to defend their crown.

Anyone hoping to take home the CCI4*-S title, however, will have Oliver Townend to contend with. The undisputed king of Burnham Market, Oliver has amassed an unprecedented 15 4* wins at the event so far and will undoubtedly have his eyes set on more. He arrives double handed this year, having entered the 2024 CCI4*-S runner up, Cooley Rosalent and his Tokyo Team Gold medal winning partner, Ballaghmor Class.
There will be three Olympic Gold medal-winning horses in action over the weekend, with Tom McEwen competing his Paris Team Gold medallist, JL Dublin in Saturday’s OI class. Set against the stunning North Norfolk coast, Burnham Market offers a rare opportunity to watch the world’s top horses while enjoying classic seaside charm. Spectators can take in top-level competition before indulging in traditional fish and chips and a stroll along the beach – what’s not to love!
The tradestand village offers a great selection of food, shopping, and unique finds for visitors to explore, while a packed weekend of entertainment ensures something for everyone. Highlights include impressive falconry displays, high-speed terrier racing, the nostalgic charm of Grays Funfair, and the ever-popular Woolly Warriors.
