The Box Office for one of Britain’s most prestigious sporting events: The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials (1st – 4th September), will open on 28th April 2022* and for those looking to get maximum value for money, there has never been a better time to book.
Not only are there significant discounts on a range of tickets including memberships, caravan and coach passes if purchased in advance; admission tickets for the Thursday, Friday and Sunday will be interchangeable at no additional cost.
Following a two-year hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this year’s event is expected to be better than ever, with 80 elite horse and rider combinations drawn from across the globe, taking part in what is recognised as eventing’s greatest contest. A new event director Martyn Johnson and new cross country course designer Derek di Grazia (responsible for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics track), are set to bring fresh impetus and new innovations to the much loved event.
One of only two 5* events in the UK, Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials starts with two days of dressage in the main arena (Thursday and Friday). Saturday is cross country day, when competitors test their nerve around Burghley’s famously demanding course. The competition then comes to a climax with show jumping on Sunday to determine who will carry home the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge Trophy and substantial £100,000 first prize.
Situated within the magnificent parkland of Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire, Land Rover Burghley is renowned not only as a major international sporting event, but also as the premier occasion in the autumn social calendar. Each year more than 600 carefully selected exhibitors offer everything from handmade cheeses, artisan breads and rare breed meats to luxury goods such as fine jewellery, contemporary fashion and exotic holidays. For the equestrian enthusiast every possible type of horse-related wares are on sale, ranging from stabling, feed and tack to riding boots, hats and clothing.
Outside the main competition, for the first time, Olympian and Team GB dressage rider Carl Hester will be hosting a masterclass, while car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to test the latest Land Rover vehicles on the Land Rover ‘Off Road’ Experience. Those looking for a quieter pace will be able to enjoy some respite, while sipping champagne in the Pol Roger Lodge.
