Due to a bumper number of entries, The Bates Saddles Arena Eventing final held at Aston-le-Walls Equestrian Centre, is being split to sit over two days – Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February. The number of entries seen for this year’s final is nearly double seen in last year’s uptake.
The championships invite competitors to complete a showjumping course followed immediately by a cross-country style course of both portable and fixed fences. An optimum time is applied to all four championship classes, similar in format to three-phase eventing competitions.
Ellen Bates of Bates Saddles, the title sponsors of the Arena Eventing Championships, said: “We are delighted to hear that the Bates Saddles Arena Eventing Championships have received such a high number of entries this year, and that the event will be spread over two days to accommodate the demand. This is a testament to the popularity and quality of this exciting competition, which showcases the skills and talents of riders and horses across these important grassroots levels. We are very proud to sponsor this event, which aligns with our vision of providing saddles that enhance the comfort and performance of both horse and rider. We congratulate British Eventing for organising and hosting this fantastic event, and we look forward to seeing the action unfold at Aston-le-Walls this weekend.”
“I will be at the event on Sunday with a selection of Bates saddles for riders to see, giveaways, and even a competition where you can enter for your chance to WIN a Bates saddle! Bring your burning saddle-related questions, or even your saddle, and we can discuss saddle-related accessories such as stirrup leathers and girthing, wear and tear safety considerations, and when it’s time to speak to an expert about saddle fitting and maintenance.”
Rosie Williams OBE, CEO of British Eventing, said: “This is a fantastic start to the year and I’m delighted to see the Championships being so well supported. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone competing the very best of luck and I look forward to seeing who will claim the titles for 2024. I would also like to thank our sponsors Bates Saddles and of course Nigel Taylor and his team at Aston-le-Walls for accommodating the Championships across the two days so that as many of our members can take part.”
