As the 2022 season starts to build momentum, it is with great excitement that British Eventing announce the launch of their dynamic new Stats Centre, powered by EquiRatings.
The stats centre will allow for riders to analyse their performance in terms of Opposition Beaten Percentage (the new buzz term for competitors that want to be on top of their game) as well as provide a Dashboard for the leading riders to monitor their progress.
A statistics-lover’s dream!
The interactive landing page for the Stats centre, the ‘Dashboard’ enables you to choose how you analyse the performance of horses and riders. Using filters to select the year, the level of competition and whether for horse or rider, you can view the top achievers in terms of:
- Number of runs
- Number of wins achieved
- Number of cross country clears
- Number of cross country rounds within the time
- Lowest dressage scores
- Lowest finishing scores
Alongside the Dashboard, you can also view ‘All-time Stats’ and ‘Records’. The Stats Centre is the perfect way for not only the top riders to monitor their own performance but for everyone to get a deeper knowledge of the sport – we challenge any fan of eventing not to get lost in these pages for a considerable amount of time!
Introducing Opposition Beaten Percentage (OBP)
Alongside the Dashboard data, the Stats Centre also introduces our new Opposition Beaten Percentage (OBP) Leagues, which carry a huge £10,000 prize money pot for the 2022 season!
The brainchild of EquiRatings, the Opposition Beaten Percentage (OBP) is a number they have designed to highlight the horses which are performing with the most consistency every season. The OBP is a single number that represents how many combinations you have competed against in a season, and what percentage of them you finished ahead of.
Wins and top placings definitely catch the eye but we also know that finishing well in strong fields is definitely something to be celebrated. The OBP leagues do exactly that as they are sensitive to the field size, so the more competitors you’ve faced then the higher your OBP.
Four new OBP Leagues have been introduced – the Newcomers, BE80, BE90 and BE100 leagues – which recognise the number of competitors beaten by members eligible for inclusion on to them. There is even an Overall OBP league that has any restrictions included in the other four leagues removed, meaning there is a chance that you could find yourself sitting alongside, or even above, some of the best riders in the world!
Further information on the OBP leagues and the fantastic prizes available will be announced shortly and more detail can also be found by visiting the stats centre here and clicking on each of the individual leagues listed.
New EHOA League
We are also delighted to host the new Event Horse Owners Association (EHOA) League within the Stats Centre, which has a minimum £20,000 prize fund attached to it. The league recognises horses competing at CCI4*-L and CCI4*S and whilst the league is open to all the prize money will only be awarded to those combinations where the horse is owned by an EHOA registered owner before the 1 August 2022. For information on how to join the EHOA please visit www.ehoa.org.
Let’s get creating stats!
We are extremely excited about the new British Eventing Stat Centre and we look forward to tracking the movers and shakers on each list and league as the season progresses. Good luck everyone for season ahead and we look forward to watching you progress being charted in this exciting new way!
