British Eventing is delighted to launch next season’s fixtures list, which is set to get underway at Poplar Park in Suffolk and Epworth in Lincolnshire on Saturday 4 March 2023.
There will be several exciting new additions to the calendar, with Chard welcomed as a new venue in the South West; and Oxstalls in the Central West region and Littleton Manor and Brightling Park in the South East making a welcome return. There will also be new 6-and-7-year-old classes, nine of each spread across the regions from April to August.
The new Regional Championships, will replace the Area Festivals, and will be held at five venues across the country – Glamis Castle in Angus, Frickley Park in South Yorkshire, Chillington Hall in Staffordshire, Port Eliot in Cornwall and Little Downham in Cambridgeshire. Each set of two double clears will count as a qualifying ticket to the Regional Championships, which will act as qualifiers for the NAF Five Star BE80 Championships at Bramham and the Voltaire Design BE90 and BE100 Grassroots Championships at Badminton. Places for the Finals will be topped up by their respective Leagues, which can be found on the British Eventing Stat Centre. The Leagues will continue to run across BE80 – BE100 in 2023, with a £10,000 prize fund allocated to them.
Some other changes include the spring long format classes that had previously been held at Houghton Hall in Norfolk moving to Bicton Arena in Devon, and the Young Horse Championships for 5, 6 and 7-year-olds moving from Osberton in Nottinghamshire to Cornbury House in Oxfordshire. The 2023 GBR Leg of Nations Cup will be hosted at Chatsworth in Derbyshire. The U18 Youth Championships will be split in 2023; with Bishop Burton in East Yorkshire hosting BE100 and Novice Championships and Chillington Hall in Staffordshire hosting the BE80 and BE90 Championships.
After their inaugural success in 2022, GoBE classes will be available across multiple venues – with Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire and Barbury Castle in Wiltshire running stand-alone GoBE fixtures. GoBE BE80 – BE100 classes will continue to require no membership fee payable and offer unpublished results across all levels.
