I am pleased to provide all the necessary information regarding our upcoming AGM, scheduled for 6pm, 10th December 2024.
In addition to the standard AGM proceedings, we are proposing a series of modernizing changes to our articles. At the 2023 AGM, I committed to reviewing our domestic governance structures to build a stronger organisation with improved communication and transparency.
As a cornerstone of this review, we are focussed on achieving the UK Sport Tier 3 Governance Standard, which will enhance our organisation’s strength and transparency. This standard will ensure our Board and leadership team have the skills needed to address the evolving challenges within our sport. To attain this standard, we need to amend the Articles to allow for a larger Board with more independent members, and a greater cross-section of skills to benefit our organisation.
The proposed updates to our Articles are a vital step in this journey. Meanwhile, work continues behind the scenes to ensure we meet the necessary criteria to achieve this benchmark.
Attaining the Tier 3 Governance Standard will unlock opportunities for broader and more substantial funding for the sport, foster a culture of openness and independence, and enable us to grow as an organisation. These efforts will ultimately position us to better support and serve our community.
