BE ENTRIES OPEN NEXT WEEK!

The countdown to the 2022 eventing season is almost over, with entries officially opening on Tuesday 8 February.

Spring might not quite be in the air but it is definitely a step closer as British Eventing has confirmed that entries for the first events of 2022 will open next week. The season gets underway over the weekend of 5-6 March, with events at Aston-le-Walls in Northamptonshire and Poplar Park in Suffolk. Entries will also be open for Tweseldown (1) (10-11 March), Oasby (1) (10-13 March) and Lincolnshire (18-20 March).

The team at Poplar Park Horse Trials are particularly excited to be kicking off the 2022 British Eventing Season – they are holding that opening slot for the first time, having historically run in week 2. “Although we always have a good grass roots level entry, we would love to see more Novice and Intermediate riders making the trip to the Suffolk coast again. Moving to week 1 where we will be the only fixture in the country running Novice and Intermediate classes should prove positive for entry numbers in those classes,” explained Joint organiser, Bo Hardwick.

Poplar Park

Poplar Park will run 5-6 March, with entries opening on 8 February

Being on free draining light, sandy soil Poplar Park’s abandonment record speaks for itself – in 37 years they have never abandoned. The cross country courses at the event are designed with the start of the season in mind. Continued investment in the site over the last few years has seen the addition of an all-weather show jumping warm up arena and major ground works on their XC courses. All of this, combined with the natural undulations, wooded areas and gallop stretches that Poplar has to offer, makes it a great place to kick off your 2022 season.
