Aspen Cooling Osberton International (2) to host Agria Amateur Three-Day

BEDE Events, British Eventing and Agria are excited to announce a new competition opportunity for amateur members at this year’s Aspen Cooling Osberton International (2), running from 1st – 5th October.

The new Agria Amateur BE105 runs with further support from Agria UK, which is strongly committed to supporting the amateur base of the sport, as well as elite riders and competitions. Agria introduced its unique lifetime equine insurance to the UK three years ago, and is a huge supporter of eventing, horse sport generally, and horse welfare. This collaboration is aimed at supporting the grassroot membership wishing to compete at an international event and experience competing across three-days.

BEDE Events Director Stuart Buntine commented: “We’re always keen to work with British Eventing and sponsors like Agria to develop new competition formats that support the membership, without whom we wouldn’t have our much-loved sport!  We’ve already introduced a national three-day at higher levels and now want to replicate this to support amateur riders accessing international events without the additional cost of an FEI registration and keeping the required number of days onsite to a minimum.”

The Agria Amateur BE105 will run at BE105 level, making use of existing British Eventing dressage tests, a slightly reduced CCI1*/105 cross-country and a showjumping at 105cm, rather than the 110cm that has often caused undue issues for those tackling the CCI1*.  The class will run from Friday to Sunday, thereby reducing the number of days required at the event by amateur riders, many of whom will be requiring extended periods away from work. Competition will run with dressage, followed by showjumping and finishing with cross-country on Sunday.

The new Amateur class will also host the finale of the Agria 100 league, that has proved a popular initiative for BEDE Events over the past two seasons.

Agria UK CEO Vicki Wentworth, herself an amateur eventer, commented: “We are thrilled to support this new BE105 class, run over three days, which has been carefully thought out to serve dedicated amateur riders. We are proud that so many amateur eventers insure with us, and we are delighted to support them in return with this exciting new class, alongside our Agria events and the Agria 100 League.”

The class, limited to amateur riders, will have the following eligibility requirements:

  • Riders who compete at BE100/BE105 level in 2025
  • The rider cannot have competed at Intermediate level in the past 5 years (inc 2020)
  • The Rider cannot compete more than 2 horses across British Eventing in the 2025 season

British Eventing CEO Rosie Williams commented: “We are really pleased to support this great class. It is a great example of BEDE Events working with us in finding ways to provide greater choice to our members, and with the support of a great sponsor like Agria, it will be a fabulous class.”

Amateur riders will also benefit from increased support at BEDE Events with the return of the Leading Amateur Prize for 2025, this season supported by UVEX Equestrian. Leading amateurs in each section will receive a special rosette, with the leading rider of each event awarded a pair of UVEX gloves and at the end of the season a new UVEX helmet of their choice.

The Agria 100 League runs across all BEDE Events hosting BE100 sections, with advance registration required.
