Equestrian fans in the North can look forward to a double handful of top-class eventing in May, when Belsay hosts not one, but two international fixtures – including Belsay’s first CCI4*-S and Advanced classes.
This is a very special year for the Northumbrian venue. As well as its well-established fixture featuring international classes from CCI1*-CCI3* and the Pony and Junior National Championships (28 May-1 June), Belsay is presenting “Chatsworth at Belsay” – the 2025 replacement for the famous Derbyshire event.
“Chatsworth at Belsay” runs from 16-18 May, and means that Belsay will run at CCI4*-S and Advanced level for the first time, alongside CCI2*-S and Novice sections. It is being sponsored by leading London law firm Forsters LLP and wealth management company RBC Brewin Dolphin.
The two events will take place in different areas of the spacious grounds of Belsay Castle and estate, and there will be a new CCI4-S* cross-country track, designed by Adrian Ditcham, that uses fresh areas of the site.
“We’re very excited about hosting our first CCI4* at Belsay and about being able to showcase Belsay as a superb venue for top-class sport,” said organiser Laura de Wesselow. “A lot of time and effort has gone into ensuring we can run two events in such close proximity to each other – we are lucky to have the space, the terrain and the support from our sponsors and volunteers to be able to do that.”
The first Belsay fixture also features Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse qualifiers, while Belsay (2) has an array of additional classes, such as the highly popular inter-hunt relay, National Schools Equestrian Association competitions and a BSPS show.
Tickets are now on sale for both Belsay (1) and (2). The “Belsay Bundle” ticket offering gives you discounted tickets for both events, ensuring that you can enjoy maximum eventing action for a cheaper price, whether you are just coming for a day or wanting to enjoy the full camping experience over both weekends. For example, a one-day adult “Bundle” ticket for Friday, Saturday or Sunday of both events costs just £20, with a saving of £10.
Discounted tickets are also available for early buyers.
Belsay also are delighted to have teamed up with The Bells Glamping to offer event visitors and owners the opportunity to stay in the midst of the action without compromising on comfort.
There will be five beautiful two-man bell tents available at both events, with a choice of double or twin beds, real duvets and beautiful soft furnishings throughout – plus the provision of excellent bathroom facilities in a converted vintage horsebox. Prices start from £150 per night.
