British Eventing’s grassroots leagues not only offer riders the chance to claim a share of a £10K prize pot but also the opportunity to book a dream ticket to compete at the NAF Five Star BE80 Championship at Bramham or the Voltaire Design Grassroots BE80 and BE90 Championships at Badminton.
Launched last year, the leagues are designed to reward consistency. They are based around the Equiratings concept of the Opposition Beaten Percentage (OBP) which acknowledges how competitive a combination is in a particular class – the greater the number of fellow competitors that they finish ahead of, the better the score.
The BE Grassroots Leagues are available to members competing at BE80, BE90 and BE100, plus those who have recently started competing with British Eventing at those levels get their own additional Newcomers league! To feature in the leagues, members simply need to record a minimum of three finishing scores at their level. The higher the number of competitors that they finish ahead of, the better their OBP and the better their chance of receiving some of the fabulous prizes on offer.
⭐️ £10K Prize Pot
An incredible prize fund of £10,000 will be paid out throughout the year across the four leagues. It will be split between:
Performance Bonuses – paid out every other month to the person at the top of each of the four leagues
Bumper pay-outs – made at the end of the season to the top three combinations in each league.
⭐️ Dream ticket to National Championships
As well as some serious prize money, those who perform strongly in the leagues also stand a chance of receiving a ticket to compete at the National Championships.
The top finishers in the 2022 BE80 OBP league have qualified for this year’s NAF Five Star BE80 Championship and will be heading to Bramham in June. This route to the prestigious championship will be available once again this year and a similar path will be available to riders competing at BE90 and BE100 who are aiming for the Voltaire Design Grassroots Championships at Badminton.
With such rich rewards on offer, the 2023 BE Grassroots Leagues are set to be hotly contested!
